Teriparatide Lupin pen can be used without any concern. Small air bubbles will not affect the dose or cause any harm.
The injection pen must not be used. Contact Generic Health Customer Service on 03 9809 7900.
Advise the patients to perform the Step – Dialling the Dose for First Injection again. Ask them to continue until a few drops of solution are expelled.
Advise the patient to not give a second injection on the same day. Ask them to proceed with their regular injection the next day, making sure they turn the dose knob to the hard stop until the figure “80” is fully visible and centred in the dose window with the white mark aligned in the window notch.
This is normal and can be expected. The pen can continue to be used.

Remind them to not stop turning the dose knob at the arrow and continue turning until the “80” is fully visible.
NOTE: The “80” refers to the dose of 80 microlitres which contains 20 micrograms of teriparatide.
Advise them to attach a needle. They should observe some drops coming out. The pen is now again ready for use. Ask them to set the dose and inject.

Ensure that the patient is using the correct needle type (refer to the Instructions for Use in Consumer Medicine Information or “Pack Details” above, or the “Preparing your injection pen before first use” video).
Ask them to try using another needle instead. If the second needle cannot be attached either, contact Generic Health Customer Service on 03 9809 7900.
Advise the patient to discard and use another needle.
